Barranca de Otates : ウィキペディア英語版 | Barranca de Otates
Barranca de los Otates is a pueblo in Mexico. Its municipality is Zacoalco de Torres in Jalisco. This town long ago was filled with many ''otates'' also known as Mexican weeping bamboo that grew all along the canyon near the river that flows through this small town. The plant was used to make baskets of many different sizes and are very sturdy and durable. The plant sometimes can also be made into a cane or walking stick by using the roots as the handle part, when made it will sometimes resemble an animal with two horns or ears. The town has many beautiful sights. One of them is called El Cajon. This is a waterfall of some or more in height. The site is between three mountains and there is only one way that the water can travel through. Another nice place to visit is The Peñas. There are large different rocks all contained within three walls. The population is about 2000 citizens. This pueblo is too small to appear in a map. Most of the residents own horses and most of them are poor people. People around Barranca De Otates own land and grow crops there. The Agave tequilana is one of the most popular plants grown there. Corn and other maize is grown as well. The pueblo has two surrounding sister pueblos called barranca de Santa Clara and La Barranca De Los Laureles.
